OVERVIEW

The HAZMAT Safety Sign Builder is very easy to use. Once you build a few signs you'll realize that the Safety Sign Builder is also very predictable and powerful. In order to use it, you will need Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or later and Adobe Acrobat Reader. To print your signs, you'll also need a color printer.

To begin building, follow the directions below and after a couple of tries you'll be an expert...

SIGN LAYOUT

The first step is to select a sign size. You do that by using the Width and Height controls. The Safety Sign Builder will then format the sign based on your selection.

The default sign size is 8.5" wide and 11" height.

HAZARD LEVEL

The most important part of a HAZMAT sign is the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) four-color diamond panel that indicates the type of hazard and level of danger associated with that hazard.

There are four hazard types with a number of levels as follows:

Use the appropriate controls to select type of hazard and level of danger associated with your material.

CHEMICAL NAME

Enter the name of your chemical in the Chemical Name text box. Your entry can be upto 255 characters long. In situations where you wish to force a non-breaking space you can use the "underscore" character instead of using a space.

If you leave the Chemical Name text box blank, then the chemical name will be removed and the NFPA four-color diamond panel will be centered on the sign.

BUILD SIGN

You should now be ready to build your HAZMAT sign. Click on the Build Sign button at the bottom-right of the panel. Shortly you'll see your sign appear. You can now save or print your sign.
